ABOUT
JANE DE FRANCE
Her talent was born from a strong artistic family environment. As a child she was inspired by her grandfathers paintings and her mother's drawings. She has fond memories of sketching horses with her mother from a very young age. Today Janes inspiration and encouragement comes from our abundance of beautiful landscapes, gardens, and everyday life inspirations.
Her work has become a captivating relationship between impressionism and expressionism with her compositions reaching a maturity influenced by that of Monet and Joan Mitchell - 19th and 20th century painters.
Janes process is an exploration delving into the depths of her emotion and identity, initiated by form and composition with strong brushwork and markings.
From her reserved characteristics her newfound energetic freedom of style exudes a playfulness and a loosening of her trained traditional conformity. A new vibrant life has evolved in her current work and we are excited to see where this journey takes her.
Jane is a member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and exhibits with exclusive New Zealand Galleries. She is fortunate that her artwork has attracted a very positive response.........sort after to appear on renowned international programme "Colour In Your Life" by Graeme Stevenson and achieving sales both nationally and internationally. Her generosity is displayed in her gift to various charities and is the recipient of several awards.
Judges award comment - 'Roses in the Storm' is a painting of roses floating in a vaporous mist, de France's subject is caught between conflicting impressions of serenity and chaos. Yet, here is also an artist who in her finest moments is capable of manipulating paint on canvas to its best advantage.
Her work is described as passionate, beautiful, ethereal, opulent and dramatic
Jane is a professional contemporary artist who paints from her own Auckland studio.
FROM THE ARTIST
As an artist, my greatest joy is to have reaction and engagement with my artwork. It is very fulfilling and I love to see people immersed in a painting, having an innate response to creating an emotional connection of their own interpretation. Conjuring up what ever!
Contentment, relaxation or excitement. Every painting gives me immense joy and satisfaction, is intuitive, spontaneous, representing all my feelings and energy of that particular time, depicting the world as it feels rather than it looks. My work has developed as I have as a person. When I look over past work, I see direct influences and reasons for what I have produced. Today, I have a thirst to immerse myself in a more expressive style and share many more artworks with all who indulge themselves in the world of art."
I do hope you enjoy my artwork as my collectors do: recalling how much enjoyment it gives them, where they hang their artwork and how proud they are to show it off.
A special thank you to those who have shared this with me.
